One of the women who I admire and respect the most in the world is running for office and many of you know her. And if you don’t, you have felt the impact of her work. Ivy Lee served as Chief of Staff in my office and led the Fair Chance Act, $15 Minimum Wage Ordinance, Affordable Childcare for All and FREE CITY COLLEGE.

I asked Ivy to join my team because I saw her work as an attorney at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights, Asian Law Caucus and Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach.  She was a formidable advocate for her clients fighting to ensure they got the best representation and the support they needed. She was also a fierce community advocate serving on the San Francisco Immigration Commission and California Anti Human Trafficking Task Force. I knew she would fight tooth and nail for what was right for the residents of San Francisco.

I couldn’t have been more proud when Mayor London Breed appointed Ivy Lee to fill a seat on the City College of San Francisco Board of Trustees – she is the kind of representative I want in office. And now she is running to continue her service. I am hoping you will join us to kick off her campaign.

As a mother of three, and someone who both attended community college and watched her immigrant grandparents take classes at community college, Ivy understands the value of our city’s public college and who this institution serves. Community college is the only institution in our country dedicated to lifelong learning. And lifelong learning has never been more important. Whether you are a recent high school graduate, a mid-career adult, or a senior citizen, a secure safety net includes access to lifelong learning.

We need smart, effective, and thoughtful leadership elected to City College of San Francisco Board. Because…whose college? OUR COLLEGE.

I hope you’ll join us. See you there!

Thanks,

Jane
