I work at Asian Neighborhood Design, which does extensive anti-poverty work through providing job opportunities for low-income residents to become economically self-sufficient.
It is extremely uplifting to see that work play out in our neighborhoods in District 6. On our recent project, Passion Cafe, it was great to see the same guys who did the painting and construction get hired on into the kitchen. That project was a labor of love, and now it's providing local jobs. We need more community-based planning to make District 6 a place where families, seniors and low-income residents can thrive.”
