Bindlestiff is a perfect example of why we need to fight for community arts spaces. We've been showcasing primarily Filipino American artists since 1989, but we almost lost the space when the Redevlopment Agency took it over in 2003.
It took a lot of grassroots organizing, but we're on track to re-open in a beautiful new space that's integrated into the community that we live in and serve. It's really an amazing thing to look back and see what people power can achieve.”
