last rites

Last Thursday night, I completed one of the last responsibilities of the campaign—taking down all those signs that we put up at the end of September.

It was the last night before our ten day deadline to take down any campaign signage in San Francisco.

Dave, Oliver, Carolyn and I went out at 11pm Thursday night to hit the Mission, Noe Valley, Glen Park, Japantown and Marina to take down any signs that made it through the election day and the downpour of rain that followed. We got two ladders, a long cutter, boardcutters and a truck and went out.

Luckily for us, 1) it stopped raining that night, giving us hours of dry relief, and 2) many of our signs already came down with the rain and other campaign signs that may have been close to our’s.

There were still enough to keep the four of us busy until 5am. I was amazed at how high we put up some of those signs. And how sturdy they were. But it was much more fun to take them down then to put them up.
